Are wood burning stoves safe in a mobile home and what's required?

Hello Russ.

Wood stoves are absolutely safe in a mobile home as long as you follow the manufacturer's installation instructions, maintaining the proper clearances and equipment such as shielding and hearth protection.

A couple things to note;

NOT ALL STOVES ARE MOBILE HOME APPROVED. This is typically because they lack the proper accessories required in mobile homes. These are;

a rear heat shield

outside combustion air kit

floor anchors (makes no sense to me. If you moved your home with a fire going you wouldn't want it to move I guess).

So, as long as the stove is approved for mobile home use, your home is just fine.

Thanks for that good question by the way.
